Ph.D Associate Professor of Logistics
Department of Aviation
Management and Logistics Auburn University

Dr. Brian Gibson serves as Associate Professor of Logistics in the Department of Aviation Management and Logistics at Auburn University.  He is the program coordinator for the Logistics major and teaches a variety of transportation, logistics, and supply chain management courses at the undergraduate and graduate levels.

Dr. Gibson has more than fifteen years of industry, consulting, and training experience in the logistics field, including recent projects with Accenture, the Council of Supply Chain Management Professionals, IKEA, and Purolator USA.  He earned his doctoral degree from the University of Tennessee, an MBA degree from Wayne State University, and an undergraduate degree from Central Michigan University.

Session Abstract:

Data synchronization is a critical element in any type of automatic identification project like RFID. Unfortunately, it's a largely unresolved issue for many organizations. This session focuses on the potential impact and benefits of data synchronization in retail supply chains and their distribution operations. Discussion topics include:

  • Data synchronization processes
  • The status of data synchronization initiatives among retail suppliers
  • Software options for achieving data synchronization
  • The supply chain consequences of poor data synchronization
