Subject: Qualifications Related to Weapons of Mass Destruction

Background

I have been a volunteer for the American Red Cross in Disaster Relief since 1992. My DSHR experience includes storms and the Oklahoma Bombing as a Logistics Coordinator.  I wish to continue as a DSHR Logistics volunteer and will remain active in my local chapter- Mid- Michigan (Lansing, Michigan) where I am on the BOD, Food Distribution Center Committee, Past Chair of Disaster Services and serve at the State Level on the Disaster Advisory Committee. I have also written a proposal to a global professional association to obtain funding to help develop training courses for ARC. I am currently on an Air Team Member and also on the ARC WMD Task Force.

I obtained my BS and MS in Civil/Environmental Engineering from the University of Michigan in the early 60’s, my MBA in Quantitative Methods also from the University of Michigan in 1966.  In 1970 I obtained a doctorate in business from Michigan State University with concentrations in operations, information and logistics management.

My 25+ years of experience includes;

  • 5 years in nuclear weapons, hazardous materials, and nuclear operations hazards analysis and operations with Atomic Energy Commission nuclear research and weapons laboratories (Brookhaven National Lab and Lawrence Radiation Lab) and Westinghouse Atomic Power Division.

  • 25 years in supply chain and materials management consulting across the full range of industry including; utilities, manufacturers, health providers, etc.

  • Commissioned in US Army served in reserve for 8 years, discharged as Captain

My objective as a volunteer is to continue to update my background in weapons of mass destruction and hazardous materials to assist the American Red Cross.
