Managing a Supply Chain through a Recession Thursday, June 26, 2008 - 10:30 am - 11:30 am Track: Hot Topics Session Abstract Managing in an economic recession is an experience that is uncommon in the U.S., and it requires quick, well-calculated responses to fast-acting forces that are usually impossible to predict and are possibly unprecedented. Only senior managers may have recession-related experience. Serious issues include fast drops in consumer demand, very tight credit, ballooning inventories, excess labor, and failing vendors. Panelists from several industries give strategies for survival, and describe observed pitfalls, fallacies, and unwise management actions.
